‘Tis the season to eat, drink and be merry… but there’s nothing to be merry about when you’ve put on weight, your clothes don’t fit, you have no energy, your joints are sore and your moods are all over the place….
- Be realistic:
Maybe aim to maintain weight rather than lose weight. You don’t want to feel deprived or under too much pressure while everyone else is having a great time. - Don’t over commit:
Learn to say no. We don’t have to accept every single invitation and we don’t have to drink / eat ourselves silly at every single event. - Plan ahead:
Take time out to plan how you want to handle Xmas parties, holidays and other events. Are you going to drink? Are you going to have dinner before you go? Are you training the next day? - Regift or throw away crappy food.
Don’t feel guilty, it’s not real food and your body is not a rubbish bin. You need to get rid of it ASAP so you’re not tempted.
Even better, if possible, tell people before hand you don’t want any food or alcohol as a gift. - Drink more water:
It’s not strenuous, it has no calories and it’s FREE! Make it a daily habit to drink a minimum 2L water a day. - Walk more:
You can do this anywhere. Missing gym classes doesn’t put on weight, eating more food than you’re expending each day will! - Don’t eat so much:
Sit down, slow down and fill up on salad and veg. Be the last person to start eating and take a long time to finish your meal. - Get rid of left overs:
Take to work, give to neighbours, feed your pets or portion and freeze asap. - Plan “RECOVERY and “RESET” days:
(watch video for further explanation). - Get an accountability buddy or team :
Research shows you are much more likely to maintain weight or lose weight if you have an accountability practice in place.
Get a mate onboard you can message each day, organise some family goals eg. walking after dinner each night, SBF members use your Habit Tracker… or join my 4 Week December Challenge and let me make you accountable 🙂
