Mooloolaba Getaway 2023

We’re just back from our 8th SBF GETAWAY and it was FANTASTIC!

Home base for us this time was the beautiful Osprey Apartments at Mooloolaba.

Beachfront location and only a stones throw away from the main esplanade with a great variety of cafes, restaurants and boutique shops.

There were 12 gals for the weekend and all were pumped and ready for a huge couple of days of adventure, activities, good food and lots of laughter.

Here’s a quick recap of what we got up to…

Day 1: Thursday

We eased into the weekend with a 1 hour coastal walk followed by a quick dip in the resort pool (which also had a spa ahhhhhhhhh bliss).

Then it was time for dinner at The Pavillion restaurant and an early night, ready for an early start the next morning.

Day 2: Friday

We kicked off Friday morning with a BOOTCAMP in what must be the world’s best outdoor gym location.

The sun was rising, the weather was perfect and at this stage no one was sore (or traumatised) from horse riding.

Followed by a quick dip in the ocean and OMG the water was so beautiful and warm!

Glorious Mooloolaba Beach

Then it was a quick breakfast and turn around to make our way out to Mooloolah Valley to go horse riding.

This certainly was an adventure as we made our way along the trails of Amamoor State Forest.

Through bat tunnels, up rocky mountains (not so bad), down rocky mountains (not so good) and all arriving safely (not quite sure how) back in one piece.

Back to home base for a snappy lunch, dip in the pool, change of clothes and off to go karting.

This was a whole lot of fun combined with healthy competition and a bit of fear thrown in.

From there it was straight off to the Alex Surf Club for dinner and home to crash after a huge day.

Day 3: Saturday

Saturday began with the most picturesque parkrun at Kawana.

A beautiful run up and around a lighthouse and back along the beach footpath. As per usual the volunteers were super friendly and it was a great atmosphere.

Next it was back for a delicious breakfast, dip in the ocean and back to home base for a bit of free time.

Before….

A trip to the TLC Recovery Center hooray 🙂

  • Hot / Cold pools
  • Infared sauna
  • Compression boots / Massage guns
  • Spa

Just what the doctor ordered 🙂

Then it was our Wild West dinner and trivia night.

A lot of laughs, a lot of shenanigans and a lot of memories to last a lifetime!

Day 4: Sunday

We finished our weekend with a stretch and mobility session down on the beach watching the sunrise and feeling so very grateful.

Thank you gals for making our Mooloolaba ’23 GETAWAY such a blast.

Laughing is, and always will be, the best form of therapy.

I like to go to bed no later than 7.30pm but last night my son, Gus had an 8.40pm basketball game.

This throws my entire routine into chaos, not only for that night but also the day following.

I’m sleep-deprived, I can’t focus on my work, my training suffers and I’m just generally irritable….
